Meet The Team

Juliet Macfarlane
Chair & Vice Treasurer
I became Chair to KAFC in 2005 and am looking forward to working with the dedicated members for the benefit of all KCC children in care. I have been a foster carer with my husband since 2006 and have looked after all ages of children and sibling groups, but now mainly specialise in looking after teenage girls and moving them on to independence. In my previous life I was a stenographer in the High Court/Court of Appeal which included the Family Division which was what drew me towards fostering. My husband was a Chef and is now retired and we foster together as a team. I am also a Foster Carer Ambassador and a mentor supporting new foster carers.

Louisa Wray
Treasurer
I have been fostering since 2012 and predominantly foster teenage girls. I find fostering a very rewarding career. We have had several children living with us but mostly concentrate on long-term fostering. My pre-fostering experience was in financial services with a high street bank, I enjoyed several customer facing roles within the bank and eventually became a Business Relationship Manager, this was by far my favourite role and enabled me to work with people from many different cultures and walks of life. After having my daughter, I decided to utilise my time effectively and began an Open University course. I successfully gained my BA Hons in Business and Accountancy. I have also trained as a teacher of English for Foreign Language students. My daughter has just finished her degree at Goldsmiths University. I am active within the fostering community and enjoy helping my fellow carers, I especially enjoy arranging fun activities and excursions for the carers and their children.

Tracy Scott
Secretary & Vice Chair
I along with my husband live in Herne Bay and we have been Kent County Council Foster Carers since 2013. We have mainly undertaken long-term fostering and currently have a sibling group of three. Before fostering I worked as a Business Manager in commercial business and utilize some of these skills in my role as Secretary for KAFC. I am committed to helping support both fostering and families that foster for KCC. I am pleased to be part of the amazing charity that KAFC is and hope through my role as Secretary to improve experiences and inclusiveness for Fostering Families. I look forward to meeting you and your families at our future events.

Sharon Williams
Vice Secretary
I have been a foster carer for over 25 years, alongside my husband, Anthony. We live in a small rural village just outside of Canterbury, where fostering has become an integral part of our lives. Over the years, we have welcomed various placements into our home, including sibling groups, mother and baby placements, teenagers, and even emergency bed placements. We are thrilled to be part of Mockingbird, which has linked us with 8 amazing fostering families and Hub Carer, which offers friendship, companionship, and endless support. Fostering is not just something we do; it is our life. We love sharing our life experiences and our home with others. Throughout my life, I have had the pleasure & experience in being part of various committees. I have served as the treasurer of a playgroup, a school governor and an active member of the PTA. One of my passions is organizing events for other carers. I work tirelessly with our committees to ensure these events are either free or of minimal cost so that everyone can enjoy them. Personally, I have a passion for cricket, which I play weekly and have incorporated this into EK1 Summer Event.

Sue Holmes
Compliance Co-ordinator
I live in Capel-Le-Ferne. I've been a foster carer since 2017 and currently specialise in the care of unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people. Prior to entering Fostering, I was the Chief Executive of a Conflict Resolution Charity for over 20 years. I am proud to be a Trustee of KAFC and hope to utilise my skills and knowledge of the charity sector to support the development of KAFC and its provision of valuable services to Kent Foster Carers.

Simon Scott
Social Media and Procurement
My wife, Tracy and I have been Fostering with KCC since 2013, and we thoroughly enjoy our lives as a fostering family. We are very proud of the work we do and proud to be part of the bigger, fostering family and that has naturally for us, led us into wanting to be part of the wonderful charity which is KAFC. You may recognise me if you watch our Facebook Raffle Live Draws as I ‘present’ the live draw and along with Louisa organise the prizes. I have also been helping at various KAFC over the years. My personal passions, apart from family events are going to concerts and the constant elation and deflation of supporting Arsenal football club.

Ashley Hale Brown
Diversity and Inclusion
I wanted to just say a little bit about myself as an introduction. I took on the role of Chair for KAFC in June 2020 and in 2025 stepped back from this role to progress with a new role of diversity and inclusion which I am looking forward to progressing. It was my passion to help grow this charity going forward and being able to provide more opportunities for the children and young people in care and their carer’s. I am pleased to see the turnout and participation growing each year at our annual Summerfest. I have been a Foster Carer since 2016 and really enjoy this role and being the Chair of KFCA means that I can give more back to the children and young people in care and give them memories to treasure.
